May’s Community Farm day is going to be something different. Every year, we gather together to celebrate the coming of Summer with an extra special Calan Mai celebration!
On the first Saturday of each month, we welcome you to the farm to get involved with what’s going on on the land and for seasonal celebrations, nature-based taster-sessions and mini-workshops. It’s a wonderful chance to see what’s been happening on the farm, learn new skills and enjoy a relaxing, fun day with like-minded company!
For Calan Mai, we’ll be continuing our annual tradition of Maypole dancing, gathering Hawthorn blossom and boughs of flowers to decorate the spaces, and lighting the May fires. Renewing Welsh Calan Mai traditions of old, with a sprinkling of our own, we’ll meet as Summer arrives to celebrate the fertility in the land that will provide us with food this year.
This time, it’ll run from midday until late - with storytelling and music taking us into the night. We are excited to welcome storyteller and mythologist Angharad Wynne, and musician Simmi Singh for a very special, immersive Calan Mai experience. Look our for more info on details, schedule and workshops coming very soon!
We’d love you to join us - let us know you’re coming on the button below!
*To get the best from the day, we really do recommend trying to arrive on time if you can!
