Our Mission
Glasbren’s mission is to cultivate food, hope and a safe space where everyone is welcomed to connect with nature, each other, and celebrate the sense of belonging that grows from a shared meaningful purpose. We are here to nurture community and care for the land with patience, curiosity, and a spirit that adapts to the needs of people and planet.
Our Values
Glasbren is a shared place of care, belonging, and connection with the land. Everyone who spends time here-staff, volunteers, visitors, and community members-agrees to uphold the following ways of being together, guided by our values.
Reciprocity
We give back to the land and to each other.
We take only what is needed, share what we can, and look after tools, spaces, and harvests with care.
We recognise that our actions have an impact and we choose the actions that support life.
Kindness
We speak and act with compassion.
We offer support where it's needed, and we treat one another-and all living beings-with patience, understanding, and warmth.
We create a culture where everyone feels truly safe to be authentically themselves.
Resilience
We aim to build strong, steady and long-term systems: in our farming practices, our relationships, and our ways of working.
We adapt with care, hold hope, and choose actions that support long-term wellbeing for people, the land and for future generations.
We face challenges and evolve together, staying focused on solutions rather than blame.
Earth-Voice
We recognise and honour nature as a participant in everything we do and follow the principles of The Honourable Harvest)
Before making any decisions, we ask: “What would nature say?”
We respect the rights, needs, and limits of the land, and consider them in our consumption, what we support and promote, and the example we set.
We treat every person with fairness, dignity, and respect.
We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment, exclusion, or judgement of any kind.
We make space for diverse needs, backgrounds, abilities, and identities.
Humility
We show up with openness and a willingness to learn.
We accept that we won’t always have the answers, and we listen-to people, to the land, and to feedback.
We acknowledge mistakes gently and grow from them.
Solidarity
We work together rather than alone. We share tasks, decisions, and responsibilities, and we uplift each other’s efforts.
We recognise that community strength comes from cooperation and mutual support. We stand with our fellow landworkers and Earth-protectors around the world and acknowledge our part in a global movement. Service
We act with purpose beyond ourselves.
We hold the needs of future generations in mind, and we serve the land, the community, and the shared mission of Glasbren.
We take responsibility for our actions and honour commitments we make to one another.
Equity.
To grow with respect.
To harvest with humility.
To share with generosity.
To leave the land more alive than we found it.
And to do it together — growers, volunteers, members, and the land itself.
